Bailey Wright

Bailey Wright

My name is Bailey Wright and I am an ASU student, studying at the Walter Cronkite School of Journalism and Mass Communication.
Work hard and play harder; that is my motto. I enjoy learning and working hard in classes, but I especially enjoy being around people. I am outgoing, and often described as bubbly. My passion is writing– I love the written word. It is hard for me to listen to a song or read a book without dissecting the meaning of every word within them. Being a journalism student, I not only love words, but I love the power words can bring. A news publication has the power to inform, bring to light problems and grant a voice to those who are otherwise voiceless. Music is another passion of mine. I sing, play the piano and play the harp a little bit. In my church, I serve as a ward choir director, where I find joy in bringing my members together with the same passion for music. I love watching the transformation of my choir from first roughly getting through the song in choir practice to performing the song so beautifully that it brings the congregation to tears. I work part-time in a law firm as an accounting assistant, which is ironic because math is my least favorite subject. Luckily, I still love my job. I am also participating in a magazine-writing, public relations internship that I also enjoy. In the fall, I am excited to start writing for ASU’s newspaper, the State Press.
I am thrilled to write for the Gilbert Gumption. Online news publications is the future, and
I embrace it with open arms. Online news spreads faster and has the ability to be more
interactive with its readers, and I cannot wait to start writing for the future. Being born
and raised in Gilbert, I am even more excited to write for this website. Gilbert holds a
special place in my heart; I love the people, I love the small-town feeling within the now-
populated city and I even love the remaining alfalfa fields. Gilbert Gumption is a great
website to turn to as a local news site and I hope to add to it with my writing.
